Canada’s multicultural background has also created a cuisine that fuses and transforms various influences into irresistible dishes. Umami in Every Bite:

Top-quality Canadian Wild Lobster

Bouncy, sweet and packed with umami, lobster is the favourite seafood of many. Canada is the world’s largest lobster exporting country, and is known for the North Atlantic lobsters that live in its cold waters. They have a fine, smooth flesh with a wonderfully fresh taste. Wild-caught Atlantic lobster from Southwestern Nova Scotia in Canada, with meaty, succulent flesh. Uses high pressure processing (HPP), the most humane way to process live lobster, according to PETA and the WWF. MSC-certified as sustainable seafood. No food additives or preservatives are needed to preserve its freshness. Looking for a star ingredient that will steal the show? DIY Party Snack Idea:

Lobster Roll Bites Set

Ingredients Quantity
Soft white bread 12 slices
Butter, melted 3 tbsp
Cooked lobster meat 140gpc
Mayonnaise 3 tbsp
Spring onion, minced 1 pc
Lemon juice 2 tsp
Salt and pepper A pinch

Steps

1. Using a rolling pin, roll each bread slice firmly to flatten. Lightly brush both sides of each slice with butter. Cut the slices into quarters and press one square into each well of a mini muffin tin.

2. Bake in oven at 180℃ for 12 minutes or until golden. Allow to cool in the pan on a rack.

3. In a bowl, mix together the lobster, mayonnaise, celery, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Add a pinch of spring onions.

4. Add the ingredients from step 3 to the toast cups. Sprinkle the remaining spring onions over each.

DIY Sushi Pizza

Have you ever thought about combining sushi with pizza? Guess what - this dish already exists. Hailing from the multicultural city of Toronto, it marries an exciting crunchy texture with umami flavours from seafood for a pleasant surprise. Try your hand at making this dish at home.

Sushi Pizza

Ingredients Quantity
Cooked Japanese rice 1 cup
Rice vinegar 1 tbsp
Sugar ½ tbsp
Egg 1 pc
All-purpose flour ⅓ cup
Panko ½ cup
Canadian sea urchin 1 serving
Canadian surf clam sashimi 1 serving
Mayonnaise 2 tbsp
Sriracha 2 tsp

Steps

1. Cook sushi rice and allow to cool. Mix in the sugar and rice vinegar.

2. Spread out the rice and cover with cling wrap. Place in the fridge and allow to harden.

3. Mix egg with a drop of water. Using the ingredients from step 2, cover in flour then dip into egg mixture and panko. Pan-fry until both sides are golden and crunchy.

4. Mix mayonnaise with sriracha. Spread over the pan-fried rice cracker and top with sea urchin and surf clam sashimi.
